Can I use it?
Summary:. This service is designed exclusively for businesses and organizations that have their own domain name; it stops spam for the entire domain. It is not software or a service that runs on individual computers. We "intercept" your email by using the DNS MX records for your domain to tell everyone to send all email for the domain to our filters. We then relay the email back to your actual mail server after filtering.

Not for use with AOL, Hotmail, Yahoo, etc.
The Emergic Cleanmail service is not available for email accounts on Yahoo, Hotmail, Gmail and similar free email services. It also is not for use with the email account you might have with your ISP or Cable company, e.g. @aol.com, @att.net, @comcast.net. In these cases your ISP would need to sign up for the Emergic Cleanmail service for their entire domain name for you to use our service.
Works with any business domain name
The portion of an email address after the @ is called the "domain" name. If you or your business own a registered domain name, e.g. mybiz.com, and have email addresses with that domain, e.g. "bill@mybiz.com", then Emergic Cleanmail is for you!
Emergic Cleanmail works for the entire domain. In other words, email sent to any mailbox at @mybiz.com will be filtered for spam and virus.
Do I need my own mail server?
No! You only need your own domain name. Most small domains run at a "Hosting" company such as Net4India,Indialinks,Interland,Enom ,PureDNS, etc. When you sign up for the Emergic Cleanmail service, we email you the changes you need to make to the DNS "MX" records for your domain. Some hosting companies let you change your domain's DNS settings through a control panel. Others require that you submit the requested changes to their technical support department. Within a few hours of implementing these DNS changes, the Emergic Cleanmail service will be in place.
Will the service work with any Web/Email Hosting Provider?
If your organization has its own internal mail server, you or your IT staff can certainly, and trivially, configure it to work with Emergic Cleanmail.
If your email service is hosted with an ISP or Web/Email hosting provider, this may vary. Emergic Cleanmail should work with most business oriented hosting companies, as many businesses maintain their own office mail servers and often require custom MX records. Changing MX records is a usually a trivial operation for a Hosting company.
Does it work with Microsoft Exchange?
Yes! Emergic Cleanmail works with any mail server software that is already accepting Internet email, including Microsoft Exchange, Novell Groupwise, Lotus Domino, Sendmail, etc.
What about larger businesses?
Since our servers are arranged in large virtual clusters with load balancing technologies, we are completely scalable. We can take on any size customer. We keep our clusters operating at or lower than 50% capacity during peak times and can quickly add nodes to the clusters to maintain peak operating performance. |
